Well-regarded listed artist, textile and tapestry designer, teacher and art critic, Mary Beeston, was born in Melbourne in 1917 . She studied at the National Art School 1954-61, textile design at the Frederika Wetterhoff School Finland 1973, and tapestry at the Daniel Drouin School, France 1978, and undertook numerous study tours

She has held a host of one-woman shows including the Leverson Street Gallery, Melbourne, 1964, 66, 72; Von Bertouch Galleries Newcastle 1965-80; Bonython Art Gallery, Adelaide 1971. With her husband, weaver, Larry Beeston, shared exhibitions in Scotland, Holland, Japan and Australian capital cities. She is also a winner of numerous awards and prizes. Her works are represented in Artbank, Tamworth City Collection, the University of Newcastle and many institutional, corporate and private collections in the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia.
