Leonard Long
On 25th April 2012 Leonard Long OAM Distinguished Gentleman turned 101. This is a milestone for anyone and we congratulate Mr Long on this achievement.
Leonard has had many achievements throughout his life and, as his granddaughter said last year at his 100 Long Years Celebration at Yas, he has been a lucky man. But what is luck if not using the talents we have to enrich, not only our own lives, but also the lives of those around us. For Leonard, those around us include people all over the world, as his paintings have brought pleasure to people in all walks of life and in many different countries. He has had the passion and ability to portray the Australia he knows and loves in all its guises. His bush trips with fellow artists such as John Downton are legendary and should be included in Australia's Folklore for future generations. Certainly Mr Long has used his "luck" wisely and well for future generations to enjoy our country. Not only do his paint and brush tell some wonderful stories, but sit for awhile and listen to the history around the paintings and it is spellbinding. |
